JAMB Kick-Starts Accreditation for 2025 UTME Centres

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has commenced the accreditation process for centers to participate in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). This critical exercise aims to ensure that only qualified and equipped centers conduct the examination, maintaining the highest standards of quality and integrity.

The UTME is a pivotal examination for Nigerian students seeking admission into tertiary institutions. With over 1.5 million candidates registering annually, JAMB must ensure that the examination process is seamless, secure, and fair. Accrediting centers is a vital step in achieving this goal.

To participate in the 2025 UTME, new Computer-Based Test (CBT) centers must meet stringent requirements. These include state-of-the-art facilities and equipment, reliable internet connectivity, trained technical personnel, adequate security measures, and compliance with JAMB’s guidelines and regulations. Existing centers that successfully participated in the 2024 UTME without issues can express their interest via the Centre Management System (CMS) portal.

The accreditation process involves several stages. First, centers register their interest in participating in the 2025 UTME. Next, they undergo a mandatory online test, known as the Autobot/Autotest, to assess their technical capabilities. Centers that pass this test will then undergo physical inspection to verify compliance with requirements. Finally, centers meeting all requirements will be approved and included in the 2025 UTME registration and examination process.

JAMB’s accreditation process ensures quality assurance, security, fairness, and integrity. By setting high standards, JAMB minimizes the risk of examination malpractice and maintains the credibility of the UTME.

The timeline for the accreditation process has been outlined. Centers can express interest from October 2024, followed by the Autobot/Autotest in November 2024. Physical accreditation will take place in December 2024, with final approval in January 2025.

JAMB’s commitment to upholding excellence and integrity in Nigeria’s tertiary education admissions process is evident in its rigorous accreditation process. By ensuring only qualified centers participate, JAMB safeguards the future of Nigerian students.

For more information, candidates and center administrators can visit the JAMB website or contact the JAMB Help Desk. The UTME Candidate Registration Portal will also provide updates on the accreditation process.
