FG Delivers Urgent Food and Relief Aid to Jigawa Tanker Explosion Victims

Following the devastating petrol tanker explosion in Jigawa State, which resulted in over 100 fatalities and left many others injured, the Nigerian government and neighboring states have intensified relief efforts.

The incident, which occurred when individuals attempted to siphon fuel from a disabled tanker on the Hadejia Expressway, has led to widespread community grief and placed heavy demand on local medical resources.

In response, the Federal Government, in partnership with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), distributed essential food items and supplies to affected families. Additionally, financial aid has been provided by neighboring states, including Kano’s N100 million donation. The Senate has called on the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs to prioritize the delivery of relief materials and ensure immediate support for survivors.

During a recent Senate session, members observed a moment of silence for the victims and urged security agencies to prevent future incidents. Senate President Godswill Akpabio emphasized the need for public awareness campaigns regarding the dangers of siphoning fuel from tankers, highlighting similar past incidents in other regions.
