Akpata Falls Short: Ighodalo Wins Polling Unit in Edo Governorship Election

Olumide Akpata, the Labour Party candidate in the ongoing Edo gubernatorial election, was defeated at his polling unit by Asue Ighodalo of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

  • APC: 19
  • LP: 32

Meanwhile, outgoing Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki secured a win for the PDP at his polling unit in the same election.

  • APC: 35
  • LP: 11

PDP governorship candidate Asue Ighodalo also claimed victory at his polling unit, where he garnered 200 votes, compared to APC’s Monday Okpebholo, who secured 45 votes. Ighodalo cast his vote at Ward 1, Unit 3 at Okaigben Idinrio Primary School, Ewohimi, Esan South East LGA.

In Etsako West LGA, Adams Oshiomhole’s ward saw APC claim a commanding lead with 403 votes, while both the PDP and Labour Party managed just one vote each.

At Ward 1, Unit 6, Auchi in Etsako West LGA, Labour Party’s deputy governorship candidate, Asamah Kadiri, secured 25 votes, while APC received 100 votes and PDP 13 votes.

In Owan East LGA, Unit 13 of Ward 10 saw the APC win with 178 votes, followed by the PDP with 135 votes. At Unit 17 of the same ward, APC polled 126 votes, while PDP garnered 90 votes.
