Five Kenyan police officers who were arrested for allegedly aiding the escape of 13 suspects have been released on bond. The Milimani Court has ordered these officers to report to the investigating officer twice a week while the probe continues. The prosecution had requested their detention for 14 days to complete the investigation.

The officers in question are suspected of helping the escapees, which has raised significant concerns among the public. Following the jailbreak, the acting Inspector General of Police announced that disciplinary action had been taken against eight officers, including the area and station commanders and those on duty at the time of the escape.

One of the escapees, Jumaisi Khalusha, a suspected serial killer, has intensified the urgency of the manhunt. Khalusha has confessed to murdering 42 women, including his wife, although he claims the confession was coerced by police. DNA tests have confirmed six of these murders, but several body parts remain unidentified.

Khalusha was being held at the Girigiri police station while authorities sought an additional seven days to investigate his crimes further. In light of his escape, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations is offering a substantial cash reward for any information leading to his capture. This measure underscores the seriousness with which authorities are treating the case and the high priority placed on locating this dangerous fugitive.
