The National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) has announced a partnership with Proforce Ltd. to develop NigeriaSAT 3, NigeriaSAT 4, NigeriaSAT 5, and a Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellite. The announcement was made by NASRDA Director-General Dr. Matthew Adepoju during a visit to Proforce Ltd. Group Managing Director Mr. Ade Ogundeyin.
This collaboration is expected to enhance national security, agriculture, technology transfer, and job creation within the aerospace sector, as well as boost Nigeria’s economy through effective capacity building. Proforce Ltd., a leading Nigerian private security firm, will lend its expertise to ensure the success of these satellite projects.
Dr. Adepoju emphasized that the satellites will support precision agriculture, monitoring, and data collection, which will improve food production and security. They will also be crucial for defense, maritime activities, and the oil and gas sector. He noted that the successful implementation of this project will position Nigeria prominently in the global aerospace industry.
Mr. Ogundeyin expressed excitement about the partnership, highlighting its potential benefits for both the involved parties and the nation. He described it as a significant achievement within President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Dr. Adepoju also encouraged other private investors to explore opportunities in the space sector, reflecting a global trend of increasing private sector involvement.
