Former Ministry of Information Director, Mr. Chamboko, has sadly passed away. His contributions to the ministry and the nation were profound, leaving a legacy of dedication and service.

Mr. Alois Chamboko, the former Director of Rural Communications in the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, has passed away at the age of 70 after a brief illness.

Mr. Chamboko died on Sunday in Gwanda, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and service that spanned over four decades.

Born on August 4, 1954, in Chivi, Mr. Chamboko’s journey of service began in 1974 when he joined the civil service at the then District Commissioner’s office.

In 1979, he moved to the Ministry of Information’s mobile cinema unit before joining the then Zimbabwe Information Service (ZIS) as a district information officer (DIO) for Brietbridge.

In 1979, he transitioned to the Ministry of Information’s mobile cinema unit, marking the start of his long and distinguished career in the ministry.

Over the years, he climbed the ranks, eventually becoming the Director of Rural Communications, a position he held with distinction until his retirement in 2019.

Mr. Chamboko’s commitment to his work was matched by his devotion to his family. He is remembered as a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

His eldest son, Mr. Samuel Chamboko, expressed the family’s deep loss, noting that his father was a pillar of strength and wisdom for all who knew him.

Mr. Samuel Chamboko is survived by his wife of 47 years, Pauline, three children, six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

He will be laid to rest in Machokoto Village, Mwenezi, on Thursday. His passing marks the end of an era, but his contributions to the nation will be remembered for years to come and beyond.
